“This workshop is probably the most important course in our series this year,” explains Gallery 7 Theatre Artistic Director, Ken Hildebrandt. “The voice is the actor’s primary tool for communicating character and dialogue so it goes without saying that this tool should be kept sharp.”
If the audience can’t hear you as an actor, your amazing performance and all your hard work making strong character choices are a waste of time. And microphones don’t cover for poor vocal performances – they only serve to highlight them.
Vocal Performance for Actors will help emerging and established performers develop more advanced skills in vocal production as they pertain to breath support, diction, projection, voice care and preparing for a performance. Understanding the psychological and emotional relationship with voice will also be explored.
Leading the workshop is Erla Faye Forsyth. A graduate of Studio 58, Erla has performed in numerous productions over the years at Pacific Theatre in Vancouver, including The Foreigner and How to Write a New Book for the Bible for which she received Jessie Richardson awards. Other credits include It’s a Wonderful Life for the Arts Club and Since You Left Us for Presentation House Theatre.
Cost of the workshop is just $125/person. For more information or to register, please call 604-504-5940 or visit the theatre’s website at www.gallery7theatre.com. Vocal Performance for Actors will be held at the theatre’s rehearsal hall, #100 – 34595 3rd Avenue, Abbotsford.
