Heat Lose 3-2 To Comets Friday

By Win Wachsmann. The Abbotsford Heat returned home after a 7 game road trip to host the Utica Comets at the AESC on Friday..

After winning the first two games against Utica earlier this yea, the
first place Heat lost their first game to the last place Utica by a
score of 2-3.

The Heat also welcomed NHL Hockey Legend former Vancouver Goalie Kirk McLean.

The first period saw the Heat outshoot Utica 16-7 but they trailed
1-0 on a bank shot by Cal OReilly that went in off Ben street’s skate at 12:54.

In the second period the Comets pressed and Pascal Pelletier finally
made it 2-0 during a goal mouth scramble at 7:36..

The Heat outshot the Comets 24-15 through two periods.

In the third period, the Comets took a 3-0 lead when Yannick Weber
took a shot and banked it in behind Ortio off Heat defenceman Dean
Arsene at 3:15.

The Heat finally got their first goal on a powerplay goal by Michael
Ferland at 14:13. This was followed by a second powerplay goal just
44 seconds later by Greg Niemisz..

The third period belonged to the Heat but they were unable to get two
more goals past Comet goalie Joe Cannata .

The Heat had 37 shots to the Comets’ 17. They also had 2 goals on 5
powerplays while Utica scored 1 goal on 4 powerplays.
