The Yale Secondary varsity boys traveled to Sardis in their final league contest and came away with an 80-71 victory.
Out of sync offensively to start the game, the Lions held a slim 35-34 lead going into the half as Sardis played physical defense and won the battle on the boards. The team found a rhythm in the second half and slowly began to open up a lead, building it to 15 midway through the fourth.
The Lions had 4 players in double figures: JJ and Jesse each had 23, Jauquin had 19, and Patrick added 10. The win clinches a first place finish in the division and means Yale will host the league tournament this weekend.
Games start this Wednesday with the 4/5 crossovers with regular tournament play beginning on Thursday at 3:00. Yale’s first game will be Thursday night at 8:15.
