Housing Starts Drop Again

Housing Starts for the Abbotsford-Mission CMA dropped by 29 percent in October continuing a steady decline that has been ongoing for several years a ccording to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).

17 single detached homes were started in October compared to 16 in October of 2012 – a rise of 6 percent. All other housing starts dropped from 12 last year to only three in October of 2013 indicating a significant (-29%) drop in government, business and institutional building.

By comparison Vancouver dropped 13 percent and Victoria experienced a 28 percent decline. Kelowna experienced an 87 percent increase
