From Magnuson Ford Soccer Club. As an ‘Associate Club’, Abbotsford Magnuson Ford Soccer Club is delighted to announce the return of the Indo-Pacific Soccer Academy, for the spring of 2014.

The Indo-Pacific Soccer Academy (IPSA), is a ‘tri-party’ collaboration involving Shooting for Hope and Youth for Change (YFC) in Rurka Kalan, Punjab.

The partnership consists of the following initiatives and goals:

v  Training Program to complement existing Club/Player commitments

v  Potential exchange visits to/from YFC Rurka Kalan, Punjab, India

v  Coach Education Clinics at YFC Rurka Kalan

v  Player Development & ID Camps

v  Cultural Education

v  Sponsorship/Fundraising for under-privileged children

Training Program:

All IPSA training will work in collaboration with the players’ current club programming and will not prevent a player from participating in multiple programs. Indeed the IPSA curriculum is based on individual skill development and is tailored to meet the needs of the player, respective of their age and current level of ability. The twelve (12) week IPSA training program will focus on two main areas of development…Technical & Physical, working predominately within a 1v1 environment, with specific attention on the following areas…

 

Training Curriculum:

Physical Literacy: Agility, Balance, Coordination, Speed, Strength.
Technical: Control, Passing, Dribbling, Turning, Shooting, Shielding.

IPSA Attire:

Players attending the IPSA program are encouraged to wear appropriate soccer attire and footwear, including shin pads at all times.

IPSA branded clothing is available on request and consists of the following – Rain Jkt, Track Jkt, T-shirt.

YFC Rurka Kalan, was founded in 2001 by a group of youth of the village Rurka Kalan to counter the menace of drugs in the area.
