From SD#34. The initial enrolment numbers for the district reflect a drop of about 123 students from projections,
Superintendent Kevin Godden reported to the Board.
While the decline is spread out around the district; the area with the greatest decline is on the west side of the
district. Encouragingly, kindergarten enrolment is slightly higher than predicted and French Immersion numbers
continue to grow at a steady pace.
If the decline in numbers stays at the current level, it will result in a loss of
four full time teaching positions, and a potential loss to projected budget revenue of $850,000. However, final
numbers won’t be known until the official headcount on October 17.
