From Elsie K. Neufeld. Re: Into The Void – Hear, hear, James! He who knows homelessness from having lived it. I think it would be good for members of this group, as well as anyone from the public, to send a letter to the mayor, and city council, as well as to the task force, to ask the much-needed answering question: what happened to ASDAC? Has it been formally disbanded?
What do we, the public, need to hear from Mayor, City Council, and the new city-appointed Task Force, with regard to ASDAC? Why has no public statement been issued? Ought the members of the group that met eight (8!) years, receive an apology and acknowledgement for the time they gave to serving on the committee?
Ought Councillor Smith not acknowledge publicly why not one of ASDAC’s recommendations re how to help the homeless ever made it to a city council meeting? Some would like to read only upbeat, positive posts on this page, however, this is an important matter that still needs to be addressed — even as the task force continues meeting.
Especially as the co-chair of the newly formed task force is Councillor John Smith — who chaired ASDAC for many years — and who voted against ACS’s proposed 20 suite apartment for homeless and at risk-for-homelessness men.
