Key Clubs Lead The Way

Student citizenship and leadership were highlighted in a presentation to the Board by members of three of the district’s Key Clubs, which are sponsored in secondary schools by local Kiwanis Clubs.

Pranav Arya, a member of Abby Senior’s Key Club, shared the major projects in which Key Club members have been engaged: UNICEF-Project Eliminate to end neo–natal tetanus; the March of Dimes; and the Children’s Miracle Network, (supporting BC Children’s Hospital in BC).

The clubs also support local charities. Student representatives from Robert Bateman, Yale and Abby Senior outlined student led fundraisers they’ve held at their schools to raise funds for these charities–many events have raised thousands of dollars Abby Traditional Secondary also has a Key club, while three middle schools have corresponding ‘Builder’s Clubs’.

All clubs have a Kiwanis community member acting as a sponsor.
