From CBC. After completing his first season as Men’s Volleyball Head Coach, Phil Wiens, an alumnus of the men’s volleyball program, is excited for his sophomore season and expects to build upon his inaugural 4-20 season.
With the veteran Bearcats slotted to return, and the new recruits committed to joining them, Coach Wiens’ expectations are high. Among the returning veterans, after both being absent for the 2012/13 season, are all-star leftside Will Quiring, and all-star setter Jason Warkentin.

Taylor Klassen – Taylor is a 6″2 leftside/Libero out of Linden, AB who possesses both strong leadership skills and a tremendous work ethic. As a young player, Taylor is steady and consistent, is packed with potential, and is the type of player who makes others around him even better. He recently captained the 403 Selects Volleyball Club who won the 18U Div. 2 National Championship.
Brendan Folkerts – Brendan, a 6″3 rightside out of Winnipeg, MB, plays an aggressive and physical game offensively and defensively. He is a big game player that has the potential to take over a match. Recently Brendan was named player of the game for the AAAA Provincial Finals in Manitoba.
Leigh Goossen – Leigh is an extremely talented and experienced 6’6″ middle. He is a dynamic player who can dominate both on the attack and blocking, and is known as one of the best middles his age in BC at the Canada Summer Games.
Jeremy Lieuwen – Jeremy Lieuwen, an Abbotsford native, MEI grad, and 6″3 leftside/Libero, is a natural leader with a competitive attitude. Lieuwen is a strong and physical player who can play a steady game; he is a complete package player. In the recent past with the MEI Eagles, Jeremy was twice named AA Provincial MVP.
