Mission News: Mission’s First Cash Mob Event

Submitted. Have you ever heard of a cash mob? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cash_mob. It’s being planned by Barry Mcleod of Youth Unlimited. The idea is that you (and a friend if you want) come with $20 in your pocket (and enough money for a coffee afterwards) and meet at a specific place (first one will be at Raverty Mall on First Ave) on Saturday Jan 26th at 2 pm. Barry will lead his mob into a pre-determined location, where you will shop. Afterwards, you will go for coffee (again a pre-determined location where the merchant will be ready to host this ‘mob’) and compare purchases and talk about your shopping experience etc.

It is a great event to go to by yourself to meet new people or go with a friend and have some fun. It will also be a great way to showcase retailers and coffeeshops that are in the downtown that you may not know about. We have all kinds of ‘hidden treasures’ that you may be overlooking!

The receipts will be gathered and sent to the DBA office and a draw for up to 1/2 the cost of your purchase will be awarded in gift certificates for the location visited. Your chances to win back 1/2 the cost of your purchase will be based on the amount of people who enter. Pictures will be posted on their Facebook page…

This is event supports local businesses and infuses energy into the downtown.

Please spread the word to your family, friends and staff.
