Submitted. Gallery 7 Theatre will be holding open auditions for William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, the theatre’s first production of the 2014/2015 Refined by Fire Theatre Season, on September 3 at 6:30PM.
The auditions are open to all male performers ages 12 – 40 and will be held at Gallery 7 Theatre’s new rehearsal hall at Huntington Station, #100 – 34595 3rd Ave, Abbotsford.
In the midst of nuclear war, an airplane carrying English school boys crashes on a deserted island. Forced to fend for themselves, the survivors attempt to scrape together a civilized society governed by simple rules and regulations. Afflicted by fear of an evil beast lurking on the island, and as the lust for power and control takes over, the cadre’s fragile paradise quickly disintegrates into savage and violent anarchy. Marking the 60th anniversary of William Golding’s celebrated dystopian novel, this provocative production explores humanity’s dark capacity for evil when fear, power and control are left unchecked.
““Lord of the Flies is really a forefather to such books as The Hunger Games and Divergent,” explains Ken Hildebrandt, Executive/Artistic Director of Gallery 7 Theatre. “There is so much to be mined thematically-speaking that it’s a perfect fit for our first production of the season and our new performance venue at the Abbotsford Arts Centre.”
Lord of the Flies will run November 7 & 8, 13 – 15, 2014 @ 7:30 PM with discount matinees on Nov. 8 & 15 at 2:00 PM at the Abbotsford Arts Centre, 2329 Crescent Avenue, Abbotsford. Call-back auditions will be held on September 4 and rehearsals will commence the week of September 8. The production will be directed by Ken Hildebrandt, Executive/Artistic Director of Gallery 7 Theatre.
