Public Info Meeting On Banman’s Agri-Mall Proposal

Mayor Banman and councillors Patricia Ross and John Smith are pushing hard for a rezoning that would answer the threat from an agricultural machinery business to move to Chilliwack without that rezoning.

The problem is staff have advised against the proposal since the land is currently zoned residential and they say that “the city is years away from understanding the long-term residential needs of the area and building the Agri-Mall could alter future development capacities in the area.”

for properties located at Lot 1 Atkinson Road, Lot 7 Eldridge Road and 3435 Eldridge Road

The City of Abbotsford will hold a public information meeting to consult with the public on a proposal to amend the City’s Official Community Plan (OCP), which would change the land use designation of the subject properties from Suburban Residential to Industrial. This amendment is necessary in conjunction with the applicant’s proposal to rezone the subject properties from One Unit Rural Residential Zone (RR2) to General Industrial Zone (I2) to permit the development of a 5 lot industrial subdivision that will allow the development of an agricultural equipment sales, servicing and rental center.

The public is invited to attend this meeting to comment on the proposed OCP amendment. The applicant will be available to answer questions regarding the proposed development. Presentation boards will also be available which will outline the preliminary proposed drawings in greater detail.

Meeting date: Wednesday, February 5, 2014
Location: Ramada Plaza & Conference Centre – 36035 North Parallel Road, Abbotsford
