Sikh Community Comes Together At Berrybeat Festival

Submitted. The Abbotsford Downtown Business Association (ADBA) is thrilled to announce that all three Abbotsford Sikh Temples will be hosting one booth at this year’s Historic Downtown Abbotsford Berrybeat Festival.

After meeting individually with the leaders of the temples, Tina Stewart, Executive Director of the ADBA, along with Surjit Atwal, Community Outreach Coordinator for Darryl Plecas, were able to arrange a round table discussion at Darryl Plecas’ office involving leaders of all three temples.
The outcome of that discussion was a joint venture of the three temples that will see them hosting one booth together at the 33rd Annual Berrybeat Festival on July 5th and 6th, as well as having a presence on the Aldergrove Credit Union Community Stage.

“I believe that this is a very important step to showcase the diversity of Abbotsford. I am thrilled that I played a part in making this happen.” Surjit Atwal, Community Outreach Coordinator for Darryl Plecas

“I am excited that for the first time the Sikh Community will be showcased at the Berrybeat Festival and am happy I was able to be part of bringing them together. I look forward to having the wonderful culture of Sikhism present at our festival for many years to come, and feel this will strengthen the relationship between the Sikh community and the ADBA.” Tina Stewart
