Standoff In Jubilee – Day 2 In Photos

By November 27, 2013Standoff In Jubilee

Abbotsford photographer Bas Stevens has given us a unique opportunity to see the standoff in Jubilee Park from the inside and on the ground through his marvelous photographs.

He was kind enough to share the photos below of Day Two after the City announced its intention to rid the park of the men and women who have congregated there in order to stay safe and stand up for their rights as citizens of Abbotsford.

The Abbotsford Drug War Survivors and the Pivot Legal Society have mounted a legal and civil rights campaign against the City of Abbotsford and the Abbotsford Police Department for their treatment of those whose suffer from homelessness, economic distress, mental illness, alcoholism and addiction through their consistent and constant policy of harassment, dispersement, displacement and poisoning by means of pepper spray and chicken feces.

The City gave the protesters 48 hours to dismantle and remove their tents and structures or face an injunction allowing the City and its police force to use force to remove them.

The Wednesday 4 pm deadline passed and the protesters remain in the park. The City is expected to apply for the injunction today or tomorrow.
