By February 8, 2013Arts

The Mission Cultural Resources Commission (CRC) is currently seeking nominations for the 2nd Mission Muse Awards to be held Tuesday, April 23, 2013 during BC Arts & Culture Week. The CRC is made up of a diverse group of individuals appointed by the District of Mission to make recommendations to help shape and sustain regional cultural activities. The Muse Awards, coordinated by the CRC, honours both individuals or groups that make Mission resonate with new ideas and artistry and those that support, advocate and educate on behalf of arts and culture.

Mission is home to many arts and cultural events and talented artists working in a wide range of genres. The arts and culture sector add greatly to the local economy, bringing back tenfold the investment in their creation and sustainability, and drawing people from surrounding communities to engage with Mission’s vibrant cultural scene.

The Muse Awards categories for individual/emerging artists include music, visual, performing and literary arts. In addition there are categories for Arts Advocate Muse Awards for business, organization, individual and educator. Full information and nomination forms can be found on the city website.

More information can also be found on the Mission Cultural Resources Commission Facebook page.

The awards ceremony takes place during BC Arts & Culture Week, April 23, 2013 at 7:30pm at Eighteen Pastures Golf Course, 29110 Matheson Avenue, Mission.
