Submitted. On Oct 1, The Loft Hair Studio and Beauty Bar took a brave step forward for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Supporting the Crystal Gala Breast Health Unit at Abbotsford Regional Health and Cancer Centre (ARHCC), they’ve started the #LoftBrasForACause fundraising campaign that asks their patrons to bring a bra to donate and be displayed at the front of their building.
When asked about how she came up with the idea, Kelly Sansalone, owner of The Loft said, “Following the success last year with the Tie-One-On Campaign supporting the Crystal Gala Breast Health Clinic, we wanted to continue to support that local cause – but with our own unique twist.”
For the month of October, bring a bra to the salon to donate and receive $10 off of your services. The Loft will then donate $10 from your service and hang your donated bra outside the salon to show support for breast health.
“Our goal is to raise money for the Crystal Gala Breast Health Unit at ARHCC. We are passionate about keeping the money we raise in our community – the community of Abbotsford where we work. Giving back is a huge part of who we are.” said Sansalone.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month in Canada. Breast cancer is a disease that will affect 1 out of 9 Canadian women during their lifetime. According to the Canadian Cancer Society, it is estimated that 24,400 women and 210 men in Canada will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Of those diagnosed, 5,000 women and 60 men will die from the disease. Breast cancer continues to be the most common cancer diagnosis for Canadian women over the age of 20 and the second leading cause of cancer related deaths in women, after lung cancer.
The Loft Hair Studio and Beauty Bar is a Green Circle salon in downtown Abbotsford, that offers holistic experiences including hair services, facials and body treatments, IPL laser services, and hand and foot care.
