Ursula Rettich At The Kariton

Submitted. The Abbotsford Arts Council is pleased to present Ursula Rettich at the Kariton Art Gallery (2387 Ware Street, Abbotsford) in a solo exhibition taking place October 17 – November 11, 2014 with the opening reception to be held Sunday, October 19, from 1pm to 4pm.

Ursula’s exhibit, “Music in My Mind,” portrays abstract imagery of music, through which Ursula “transfers the sounds [she] hears into colours and the movements into brushstrokes.”

Born, raised and educated in Germany, Ursula Rettich immigrated to Canada in 1958, first residing in Cassiar, B.C. and later moving to Burnaby in 1963. She joined the Guild of Fabric Arts in Vancouver in 1979, and since then, has participated in dozens of art exhibitions in fabric art and painting.

In 1993, Ursula moved to Kaslo, B.C,. where she established an art studio called “4711 Art Gallery.” She served on the board of the Langham Gallery in Kaslo for eight years, where she also received awards and honourable mentions for her fabric art and paintings.
