Wendy Dupley named Director of Economic Development for City of Abbotsford
Submitted. The City of Abbotsford is pleased to announce that Wendy Dupley will be joining the municipality on September 22, 2014 as the City’s new Director of Economic Development, announced City Manager George Murray today.
“Wendy brings with her over 25 years’ experience in the public, private, and international sectors,” said Murray. “Her international experience is vast; having
been the Regional Executive Manager in the Department of Immigration and Citizenship for the Australian Government located in Washington DC, working throughout the Americas region.”
Dupley has also held various management and leadership roles in the United Kingdom private sector, and previously held a position with the Government of
Alberta as the Executive Director of Labour Attraction for the Ministry of Employment and Immigration.
She was recently nominated to the Economic Development Association of Canada’s Board of Directors, and is at present the Executive Director of the Economic Development Alliance of Southeast Alberta.
“We are all looking forward to the innovation and opportunity that Wendy will bring with her to her new role as Director of Economic Development with the City of Abbotsford,” said Murray. “I know she is especially looking forward to the opportunity of meeting our local business and community leaders in the coming
months.”
According to Medicine Hat News, “Duplay (sic) has spent three years as the executive director of the Economic Development Alliance of Southeast Alberta, but announced Tuesday that she’s accepted a position with the City of Abbotsford.
“The EDA is an organization that is co-funded by the City of Medicine Hat, the Towns of Redcliff and Bow Island, and Cypress and 40-Mile County.”
