From Yale Sport Academy. Yale Hockey Academy’s U16 team won the inaugural Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) Elite 15 Championship on the weeknd (March 1.) Yale’s U-16 team is part CSSHL which has eight teams in the Elite 15’s Division (U-16), from BC, Alberta and Idaho.
At the championship tournament, in the semi-finals, Yale came back from behind to defeat OHA (Okanagan Hockey Academy) 3-2 to advance to the championship finals.Next day in the finals against Pursuit of Excellence Academy from Winfield, the Abbotsford team trailed 2-0 going into the third period. But Yale rallied in that final frame to score 4 unanswered goals to win the Canadian Sport School Hockey League Championship 4-2.
Also, CSSHL Awards Night featured the following Yale winners:
- Brett Clayton: Student Athlete of the Year Award.
- Kohen Olischefski: MVP of the Year and Top Scorer.
- Carter Shannon: Top Scorer and Most Sportsmanlike Player of the Year.
- Liam McCloskey: Top Goaltender of the Year.
