Original Joe’s Restaurant and bar launches new charitable partnership with Mealshare

Submitted. Original Joe’s Restaurant and Bar (OJ’s), one of Canada’s fastest growing casual dining establishments, is launching a new partnership today with charitable organization Mealshare. As part of OJ’s growing Community Care Fund, partial proceeds from a featured item off of the winter and summer seasonal menus will go towards Mealshare to purchase a meal for someone in need. The addition of all 62 Original Joe’s locations will nearly double the number of restaurants currently involved with the Mealshare program.

Mealshare is a non-profit society that allows people to turn their “dining out” into “helping out”. For restaurant customers, the premise is simple: for every Mealshare item purchased, one meal is provided to someone in need. Half of the meals are provided locally through the Breakfast Club of Canada, Calgary Drop-in Centre, Food Bank, Hope Mission, Mission Possible, Our Place Society, and Warmland House. The other half are provided in developing countries through Save the Children.

“Original Joe’s is incredibly proud to partner with Mealshare,” comments Elena Remoundos, Marketing & Communications Manager. ”We share a vision of supporting charities that provide help through a well-rounded approach to make a lasting and meaningful difference. Giving back to those who are less fortunate is important to us.”

Original Joe’s will be launching the program in conjunction with the release of their 2014 Winter Warm-Up Menu. The featured Mealshare menu item will be the Miso Ramen Bowl – for each bowl ordered, Mealshare provides a meal to someone in need.

“Mealshare is excited to build a deep, long-term partnership with Original Joe’s,” says Jeremy Bryant, Co-Founder Mealshare. “This partnership allows us to expand into several new markets and we are truly inspired and motivated by the impact we are going to be able to have together.”

The new partnership with Mealshare joins OJ’s popular community pint program, in a move that broadens OJ’s community investment program. OJ’s is known across Western Canada as a neighbourhood restaurant and bar with a down-to-earth and friendly atmosphere. From pub classics to more creative items, OJ’s satisfies guests’ cravings with made-from-scratch comfort food.

OJ’s is all about choice, from a variety of menu items to fulfill all cravings, to serving up all entrees with two sides. OJ’s offers late night dining in addition to daily lunch, dinner and a gluten sensitive menu.
