This week’s Comment of the Week actually comes from the Huffington Post which published Pastor Ward Draper’s Today column, ‘Next Steps‘, under the headline, “How Should We Deal With Homeless Camps in Abbotsford?”
In the comments section on HuffPo, Dubble D has this to say:
“Thanks for the excellent work and excellent article. It’s easy to look at the homeless and dehumanize them, and much more difficult to empathize and support them in their challenges. More often than not these individuals are mentally ill or the survivors of horrible trauma. Instead of dumping manure on these poor folks we need to start thinking about them as our neighbours, as members of our community. Sadly, I’m not at all surprised by the actions of these ‘city fathers’, particularly in Abbotsford.”
