By September 5, 2013Crime

Submitted. Between late May and the end of June, 2013 the Abbotsford Police Department received 18 tips about incidents occurring or having occurred at various locations in the City of Abbotsford. Those tips ranged from home invasions to sexual assaults to plans to kill police officers and explosives being located in businesses and neighbourhoods. The APD investigated each of these tips and determined them all to be false. Investigators determined that these tips had been generated by a 38-year-old man from Abbotsford named Donald George Campbell.

Each of these tips demanded an Abbotsford Police Department response and caused stress for many individuals working for the targeted business and living in the various residential areas described. The Major Crime Unit of the Abbotsford Police Department assumed conduct of the investigation once it was suspected that the tips were false. Their efforts resulted in the arrest and charge of Donald George Campbell. He now faces three counts of Public Mischief and one count of conveying a Message to Alarm.

We would like to thank all of the citizens who assisted with this challenging and involved investigation.
