NDP Attacks Partisan Government Advertising

By Bruce Ralston. For months, the Liberal Government has been wasting millions of tax dollars on misleading partisan ads.

We learned last week that the total cost for these BC Liberal government ads will be at least $16.6 million. And if the Liberals continue to run ads right up until the election, the total will be millions more.

That’s money that could have been invested in skills training to create opportunities for young people, in providing additional homecare services for seniors, in planting a third more seedlings to improve the health of our forests, or on any number of other priorties.

Enough is enough.

Today, BC NDP Leader Adrian Dix put forward a private member’s bill in the BC Legislature. Adrian proposes a law called the Government Advertising Act to end taxpayer-funded partisan advertising once and for all.

Over 12,000 British Columbians have already pledged their support by signing our petition calling for an end to taxpayer funded partisan ads.

But we need to keep the pressure on.

You can show your support for Adrian’s push to end this outrageous practice by adding your name to our petition to end taxpayer-funded partisan ads right now.
