RaiseBerry Fundraiser Gala At The Reach

By February 17, 2017Arts

Submitted. The Red Press Society presents Raspberry magazine’s Raiseberry fundraising gala. On March 4, 2017 head to The Reach Gallery in Abbotsford for an evening celebrating local arts and culture in the Fraser Valley. The event aims to highlight the area’s music, food, visual art, and other creative scenes. From a local lineup of musicians, to a video game demo by new developers, Raiseberry taps into the rich creativity currently blossoming throughout these communities. It will also feature a live painting session and a selection of poetry by local writers.

Red Press Society was formed in the fall of 2016 for precisely this purpose. As a non-profit society made up of local creators, it is important to the society that the wide reaching talents of local artists have a place to present their work.

Red Press’s main project is to publish the monthly magazine Raspberry — a consistent, high-quality publication for Fraser Valley artists to share their work. The magazine publishes reviews, event coverage, and feature articles on what shapes the everyday life and cultural experience of Valley residents. It also publishes original art and writing by local emerging creators. The magazine wants to dig their fingers into the rich cultural earth right here in the Valley.

All funds raised at Raiseberry contribute to this goal, specifically through print publication of
the magazine and further cultural events. There will be a silent auction featuring packages by local vendors as well as local food and beverage options.

Above all, Raiseberry and the folks behind Raspberry magazine and the Red Press Society
want to celebrate the creative spirit of this community through a fun and diverse gala.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. March 4, 2017 at The Reach Gallery in Abbotsford. Tickets by donation (suggestion $5). Or let us know you’re coming early by responding here. For more information visit raspberrymag.ca
