Six Join Heat From Flames

Submitted. The Calgary Flames announced today that they have assigned defensemen Chad Billins, John Ramage, Tyler Wotherspoon and forwards Steve Begin, Markus Granlund and Josh Jooris to the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League.

The Calgary Flames have 32 players remaining at camp (3 goalies, 10 defensemen, 19 forwards).

The Heat also announced today that Guy Lafleur, Montreal Canadiens legend and five time Stanley Cup winner, will be featured in the first Legends of Hockey night of the 2013-14 season. Lafleur will be at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre (AESC) on October 11th for the Heat home opener against the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators). Guy Lafleur is a five time Stanley Cup winner and the all-time leading scorer in Montreal Canadiens history with 1,246 points. He was the first player in NHL history to score at least 50 goals and 100 points in six consecutive seasons. Lafleur won three Art Ross Trophies (league leader in points), two Hart Memorial trophies (League MVP), three Lester B. Pearson awards (MVP voted among his peers), and one Conn Smythe Trophy (Playoff MVP). Lafleur was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988 and the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame in 1996.

Lafleur will be signing autographs for a Heat fans starting at 6pm on the concourse of the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre (AESC) on a first come, first served basis. 50 lucky fans will also be chosen to meet Guy and get a guaranteed autograph from the Canadiens legend.
